The Journal of Blacks in Higher Education – Ugochukwu O. Etudo, a new assistant professor of operations and information management in the School of Business on the Stamford campus of the University of Connecticut, has developed software that can be used to search the internet and the so-called “Dark Web” to identify websites that espouse radical views and violent behavior.

CIOs Ask Daily: What’s Next in Business?
Whether their business is customer service, manufacturing of tools, or software and analytics, corporate chief information officers are always focused on the next “best technology.”
That was the message from the UConn School of Business-sponsored program on Nov. 7 titled, “Leading Digital Transformation,” at the Stamford campus. Panelists included Carol Juel of Synchrony Financial, Cindy Finkelman of FactSet and Lori Groth of Stanley Black & Decker. The program was moderated by Sulin Ba, associate dean.
All three presenters talked about the rapid pace of business today and that their companies must quickly adapt to digital transformations ranging from cybersecurity to artificial intelligence to employee recruitment.

UConn’s Strength Draws Talented New Freshmen Across Campuses
UConn Today – UConn’s investments in its regional campuses are drawing record numbers of talented new freshmen to those locations, joining their highly accomplished peers who are coming this week to UConn Storrs to begin their college careers.
Almost one-third of UConn’s new freshmen this year chose to enroll at one of the four regional campuses, up from about one-quarter of the freshmen in fall 2015. The growth is particularly evident at UConn Stamford, where new student housing that opened last week helped propelled the enrollment of new freshmen by 50 percent over last year.

UConn Expands Presence in Hartford, Stamford
Connecticut by the Numbers – UConn is on the move this week, literally as well as figuratively. Wednesday will see the ribbon cutting for the new Hartford campus, which is relocating from its suburban campus in West Hartford after nearly five decades away from the Capital City. And in Stamford, students will be moving into student housing beginning this weekend, the first time that has been possible.
