A team of finance students took second place in this year’s Hartford CFA Institute Research Challenge. The award capped off senior year for three of the four team members, whose 20-page report analyzing a publicly traded company impressed the judges.Continue Reading

Accounting Ph.D. Student Wins Prestigious, $25K Deloitte Foundation Fellowship; One of Only 10 in Nation

For the second time in two years, a UConn Ph.D. student has won the prestigious $25,000 Deloitte Foundation Fellowship, an honor bestowed on only 10 future professors in the nation.

Ilona Bastiaansen, a fourth-year accounting doctoral student, whose thesis examines corporate bankruptcies, was one of the recipients. Each year doctoral students from more than 100 universities are invited to apply for the fellowship.Continue Reading

Student Jack Tarca may never have created his business, Find the Good Brand clothing company, if it weren’t for the entrepreneurship guidance he received at UConn.

UConn Today – When UConn alumnus and serial entrepreneur Nadav Ullman ‘12 (BUS) created Project N95, a national clearinghouse vetting PPE from around the world in the thick of the COVID-19 crisis in 2020, he discovered something more daunting than a shortage of surgical masks and gloves.

He realized the whole global supply chain process was broken.

The School of Business will resume its in-person Hall of Fame celebration this year, honoring five prominent alumni at an elegant ceremony on April 22 at the Hartford Marriott Downtown.

“The Hall of Fame ceremony is one of the signature events at the School of Business,” said Dean John A. Elliott. “The event was established to recognize alumni whose professional achievements, character, and commitment to others have placed them among an elite group of graduates.
