At-Risk High Schoolers Learning Personal Finance Basics at UConn

UConn Today – About 50 students from four high schools in Hartford and East Hartford have been traveling by bus to UConnโ€™s Storrs campus for several Saturdays this spring to learn the basics of personal finance. Among those lessons are how to open a bank account, managing personal spending, and ways to fund a college education.

Student-Led University Ballet Co. Prepares for Inaugural Performance; โ€˜Itโ€™s Almost a Way to Be Freeโ€™

UConn Today – Angelia Prip โ€™22 (BUS) has been dancing since she was 4 years old, and, beginning in elementary school, she would typically practice every day. When she arrived at UConn, and discovered there was no ballet company here, Prip was devastated.

She set out on a mission to create the University Ballet Co., and, to her surprise, her initiative attracted 100 dancers, many of whom had trained with prestigious dance companies, including the Boston Ballet, the American Ballet Theatre, Miami City Ballet, The Hartt School, the Nutmeg Conservatory and more.


UConnโ€™s Popular In-Person Career Fairs Returning After Pandemic-Induced Hiatus

UConn Today – Like so many other aspects of life, the COVID pandemic has upended the process of searching for internships and full-time jobs for many current and graduating UConn students.

But thereโ€™s good news on the horizon: For the first time in two years, UConn is able to return to in-person career fairs โ€“ albeit with many health and safety precautions โ€“ while continuing to offer the popular virtual fairs, on-demand resources, and other online programming it expanded during the pandemic.
