Executive Breakfast Series: Becoming Yourself as a Leader

Executive Leadership Breakfast Features Management Expert Lucy Gilson, Baseball Coach Jim Penders

The School of Business will offer a free breakfast seminar titled “Becoming Yourself as a Leader,” from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sept. 14 at the Graduate Business Learning Center, 100 Constitution Plaza, Hartford.

The program will feature guest speakers Jim Penders, head coach of the UConn Baseball team, and Lucy Gilson Ph.D., the head of the management department and a professor at the School of Business. Continue Reading


In Memoriam: Frank Wuest ’82

Frank Wuest ’82, president of the Boston-based real estate investment firm Marcus Partners and a dedicated alumnus who enjoyed mentoring UConn business students, died unexpectedly Aug. 13.

“Frank Wuest was an exemplary alumnus of the UConn School of Business,” said Dean John A. Elliott. “He engaged with faculty, staff, students and alumni. He spoke at events in Boston, he hosted visits by our students to his real estate offices, he took their phone calls, and advised them well.”Continue Reading




Fund Provides UConn Business Startups Financial Support

UConn Today – The University of Connecticut in partnership with Connecticut Innovations (CI) and Webster Bank today announced it is establishing a $1.5 million UConn Innovation Fund that will provide early-stage financial support to new business startups affiliated with UConn.

Robin Coulter, professor of marketing, University of Connecticut, and Yuliya Strizhakova, associate professor of marketing, Rutgers University received the 2015 S. Tamer Cavusgil Award at the Summer 2016 American Marketing Association Conference held in Atlanta in early August. The Editorial Board of the Journal of International Marketing identified their article, “Drivers of Local Relative to Global Brand Purchases: A Contingency Approach,” as making the most significant contribution to the advancement of the practice of international marketing management in 2015.

Rapid Growth Means UConn Won’t Consolidate Business School With Downtown Campus

Hartford Courant – The University of Connecticut will not consolidate its graduate business school in the city because the school’s enrollment is growing too rapidly to fit into the university’s new downtown campus.
