Professional services comprised one of only two job sectors that grew its ranks in the state in August. Stamford, in particular, represents a hub for some of the industry’s top firms, who are attracted by the city’s growing economy and proximity to New York City. A number of those companies are increasing their local ranks and expanding into promising digital fields.

George Plesko, associate professor and accounting department head, has been elected to the Board of Trustees of the National Tax Association.
Thomas D. Adams III, an assistant professor, won a second-place award in Temple University’s Fox School of Business Annual Ph.D. Research Competition in the dissertation category. His research topic was: “Does Adding Accounting Expertise Matter? A Study of Audit Committees in Mergers and Acquisitions.”
David Weber, associate professor, was named a trustee of the American Taxation Association.
UConn alumna and current Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) student Ashley Uliasz ’17 has been awarded a $10,000 scholarship, one of the largest grants received by a UConn accounting student.Continue Reading
