Hartford accelerator names inaugural cohort of digital health startups

Hartford Business Journal – Hartford’s newest accelerator is set for its official launch next month, having selected 10 startups Wednesday evening. Nine of the 10 that will join the three-month-long Digital Health CT program hail from across the U.S., including two based locally in Farmington, while one is from Israel.

CNET – An energetic crowd of hundreds of Amazon workers gathered around the Spheres, a 90-foot-tall glass building at the center of Amazon’s Seattle headquarters, to hold up signs reading “No AWS for Oil and Gas” and practice chants like “Climate change is not a lie, do not let our planet die.”

Combat’s Other Toll on Veterans: Increased Risk of Addiction

UConn Today – In what is described as the first study of its kind, a UConn professor has found that combat service substantially increased the risk of prescription painkiller abuse and illicit heroin use among active-duty American servicemen.

U.S. combat veterans deployed as part of the global war on terror, since 9/11, have an opioid abuse rate that is higher than servicemen who were not deployed to combat zones, the study found.Continue Reading
