Third Annual CEO Evolution Panel Features Top-Tier Executives

Fairfield County Business Journal – The third annual CEO Evolution event will feature insights into the secrets of success from three CEOs from high-level national and global companies.

At the June 15 event the University of Connecticut School of Business in Stamford will host William S. Simon, former president and CEO of Walmart U.S.; Margaret Keane, president and CEO of Synchrony Financial in Stamford, and Scott Gillis, senior managing director and co-founder of the Manhattan managing consulting firm Galt & Co.

On Monday April 25, marketing students were recognized at the annual Marketing Department Awards Reception for their accomplishments within the School of Business. Canaan Collector’s Accordions Help Tell Story of the Past

The Register Citizen – Once an avid player, Canaan’s Paul Ramunni hadn’t picked up an accordion for 42 years.

“I played the instrument from age 10 to 17. When I went to Fairfield University, the accordion went into the closet. In mid-2008, I woke up one morning and inexplicably had the urge to play again,” said the 67-year-old, who had a CPA firm in Canaan for 35 years before selling it five years ago. He now teaches accounting and financial literacy courses full time for the University of Connecticut.

Business Law Conference Draws International Experts, Sparks New Ideas

Experts in business law, management and a range of social science disciplines attended a two-day conference at UConn titled, “Public Regulation and Private Governance: Competitors or Collaborators?”

Provocative, Well-Honed, Brief Lessons Can Augment Teaching and Learning

You are probably doing it too, watching TED Talks.

The acronym stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design. These are brief, invited presentations, in front of live audiences, most of whom have paid substantial sums to attend.

The annual event began in 1984, and has evolved over time. Now there are offshoots on college campuses and other venues. Today the web makes access easy and most can be viewed after the fact for free. https://www.ted.com/talks.
