Student Graduation Speaker: Parth Rana ’16

Finance major Parth Rana ’16, the student graduation speaker, told his classmates that they shouldn’t use their UConn knowledge strictly to excel in their careers. To do so, would be an injustice to the values of the university, he said.

Instead, he urged students to show gratitude to the innumerable people that helped carry them to this height and to blend knowledge with action. Meet new people, push yourself out of your comfort zone and express passion and excitement in all that you do, he said.

When School of Business Dean John A. Elliott introduced the Class of 2016 at Commencement on May 8, he congratulated them on the significant milestone of graduation and reassured them that they are well prepared for what lies ahead.

“You are poised to become prominent members of your communities, voters whose votes will guide our choices, leaders whose words will affect others,” he said. “You are prepared to continue to learn, to leave your mark on our world, to innovate and create, to produce new products and new companies and to be leaders in your communities.”

UCLA Marketing Professor Suzanne Shu discussed retirement savings, and how individuals make their decisions about how much to save and how much to spend, during a presentation to faculty and doctoral students on Jan. 29.

On November 11th, 2015, the UConn School of Business Graduate Finance Association (GFA), in collaboration with the Office of Alumni Relations and CFA Society Hartford, hosted this year’s Careers in Finance CFA Panel and Networking Reception. 2015 Graduate Career Fair

The room buzzed with opportunities and excitement for students, recruiters and business leaders during the UConn School of Business Graduate Career Fair.

The Oct. 23 event welcomed 50 recruiters and business leaders from 21 companies, including Cigna, Target, Prudential, CVS Health, Northwestern Mutual, UTC and Eversource.

2015 Graduate Career Fair

Students actively engaged in lively discussions and productive networking with company representatives during the second annual event hosted by the School of Business Graduate Career Development Office.

Almost 500 students attended the Career Fair at the Marriott in Downtown Hartford. Positive feedback was given from students and corporate partners.

Students were prepared to talk about internships and fulltime opportunities. One company even scheduled a follow-up interview for the next day!

‘Pink Tie Affair’ Spreads Message that Disease Impacts Everyone

Students, faculty and families gathered in a powerful display of reflection and hope during a breast cancer awareness fundraiser called The Pink Tie Affair.

Hosted by the UConn Chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) and Travelers EDGE, the most touching moment of the Oct. 16 evening was when members of NABA and the audience shared their personal stories of how breast cancer has taken their loved ones.Continue Reading
