I started off my third week by meeting a friend who lives in London. Georgie was an exchange student at UConn in the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 semesters and joined my sorority Gamma Phi Beta. It was great to catch up with her and laugh over my deepened cultural understanding of the UK. We hung out in the wealthy area of Hampstead right outside of London. She explained that London is similar to cities in the U.S. in terms of wealthy business people dwelling in quaint neighborhoods and suburbs directly outside of the city, such as Hampstead, to avoid both the craziness of the city and a long commute. In my second week, I was able to check a lot of tourist attractions off of my bucket list in London. We started by attending an Eid festival that the Mayor of London organized in the populated Trafalgar Square. From there, we wandered to the beautiful Westminster Abbey and Big Ben, which is currently under construction. Here, we ended up in an anti-Brexit rally! It was very interesting to see the political unrest that we were learning about in class up-close and personally. Continue Reading

This is my last week here in London and I can genuinely say that I am going to miss the city and its lifestyle. I loved how simple it was to easily go from a peaceful residential area (which is where I lived) to a very populated shopping street (such as Oxford Street) in only a few minutes. Continue Reading

This week, my peers and I were fortunate enough to visit the Museum of London and the National Gallery. In the museum my class had the chance to learn about the history of London through the artifacts, videos and touch screen games. The museum was very impressive due to London’s history being so long (since it does date back to 43 AD). Continue Reading

My first day in London was extremely exhausting, however, the 5-hour time difference was easy to get over. The second day we jumped into class mode and I was happy to see that my syllabus was a mix of learning about the culture and exploring London. Continue Reading
UConn Today– Connecticut’s economy has been shrinking since 2008; it desperately needs to find a way back to growth. Long Island’s economy is choking because of the necessity of everything going in or out through New York City. An interstate collaboration to “bridge” the Sound might address both challenges.

April was a busy month for negotiation at UConn. The Law School and the Business School cooperatively sent UConn teams to two international business law negotiation competitions. Continue Reading
