AACSB International – AACSB International announced today that 64 business schools have extended their accreditation in business, and 24 schools have extended their accreditation in accounting.

U.S. News Ranks UConn’s Online Masters in Accounting Program as #2 in the Nation

A study released today by U.S. News & World Report ranked the UConn School of Business’ online Master of Science in Accounting Program (MSA) as No. 2 in the nation.

The highly competitive program, which typically draws 200 students each year, was touted as one of 2016’s Best Online Graduate Business Programs (excluding MBA programs). U.S. News focuses on course design, instructor qualifications, student/instructor interaction, student retention and more. Last year UConn tied for third place in the rankings.Continue Reading

Congratulations to our Instructor of the Year, Stephen Pedneault

Congratulations to Stephen Pedneault, who received the MSA Instructor of the Year award.  Steve teaches our Forensic Accounting and Securities Fraud course (ACCT 5546) and has been with the program since 2008.  Stephen is the principal of Forensic Accounting Services, LLC, a local CPA firm in Glastonbury, Connecticut specializing only in forensic accounting, fraud investigations, and litigation support matters.  Congratulations Stephen!


Greater Hartford Accounting Firms Facing Workforce Shortage

Hartford Business Journal – Hartford area accounting firms say they are on a hiring spree to address a region-wide personnel shortage driven by heavy workloads, increased competition for talent, and professional burnout.

While accounting has historically been an in-demand profession, a few changes in recent years have amplified competition among firms and corporations recruiting talent, said Mohamed Hussein, a professor and head of UConn’s accounting department, which graduates over 100 accounting majors per year.
