Scholarship Allows Student to Stretch Academically

Katie Cavanaugh ’17 only just started her junior year, but she has already done four internships and held three research positions. Oh, and she’s double majoring in political science and management information systems.

Cavanaugh has never held back academically. She is grateful for the scholarships she has gotten from UConn because they have allowed her to stretch.

“What the scholarships say to me is ‘we want you to focus 100 percent on yourself as a student and, really, as a professional,'” she says.

2015 Graduate Career Fair

The room buzzed with opportunities and excitement for students, recruiters and business leaders during the UConn School of Business Graduate Career Fair.

The Oct. 23 event welcomed 50 recruiters and business leaders from 21 companies, including Cigna, Target, Prudential, CVS Health, Northwestern Mutual, UTC and Eversource.

2015 Graduate Career Fair

Students actively engaged in lively discussions and productive networking with company representatives during the second annual event hosted by the School of Business Graduate Career Development Office.

Almost 500 students attended the Career Fair at the Marriott in Downtown Hartford. Positive feedback was given from students and corporate partners.

Students were prepared to talk about internships and fulltime opportunities. One company even scheduled a follow-up interview for the next day!


UConn Students Gain Valuable Experience as Interns

UConn Today – When college graduates nationwide are vying for jobs, there is one item on their resumes that’s becoming a must-have for employers: the internship. A nationwide survey in 2015 found that 60 percent of employers prefer to hire candidates with relevant internship experience, a figure that has been climbing in recent years.

Meg Warren Named UConn MBA Director

Meg Warren, of South Windsor, has been appointed director of the Full-time MBA Program at UConn’s School of Business.

Warren has been an integral part of the success of the program, which is now ranked among the Top 25 public MBA programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. The typical graduate of the program begins work with a base salary of more than $101,000. The program, which has approximately 100 students from Connecticut and across the world, is located in downtown Hartford at 100 Constitution Plaza.Continue Reading

School of Business Offers New Summer Program for Non-Business Majors

Due to unprecedented demand, the School of Business is offering a new, 10-credit summer business program for undergraduate, non-business majors who want to gain valuable business acumen and expand their marketability.

The UConn Business Fundamentals Certificate Program is a seven-week program that includes the following courses: “Legal and Ethical Environment of Business,” “Managerial and Interpersonal Behavior,” “Workplace Readiness,” and “Business Information Systems.” The program runs from May 18 to July 2.Continue Reading



Target Corporation Freshmen & Sophomore Case Competition

On Thursday, February 12th, five teams of Freshmen and Sophomore business students participated in a case competition sponsored by Minneapolis-based Target Corporation. The purpose of the event was to provide case competition training and practice for underclassmen, offering them a terrific opportunity to gain real world business experience with the support of representatives who could provide professional advice.
