Taylor Vanfleet, a senior Finance major with a minor in Professional Sales Leadership, interned for Virtus Investment Partners over the summer with the internal sales desk. She obtained her sales internship by connecting with a company recruiter at the Sales Competition event in Fall 2015. Claire Messina, a junior Marketing major, worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance as a Sales Intern last summer. As a member of Pi Sigma Epsilon, Claire had the opportunity to network with representatives from Liberty Mutual at a golf outing event hosted by the fraternity. Cameron Miller, a senior Marketing Major with a DMA concentration and a Communication minor, was the Primary Marketing Research intern for Travelers’ Enterprise Market Research team this summer. He learned of the opportunity through an email sent from the Marketing Department and reached out to the Human Resources contact provided. Eliza Conrad, a dual-degree student with majors in Business Management and Political Science, interned at Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits in Stamford, Conn. over the summer. Her official position was the Brand Management Intern for Josh Cellars Wines. Eliza applied for the position through the company’s Human Resources Department and completed a full day of interviews plus dinner with her future supervisors before being offered the position. Robin Coulter, professor of marketing, University of Connecticut, and Yuliya Strizhakova, associate professor of marketing, Rutgers University received the 2015 S. Tamer Cavusgil Award at the Summer 2016 American Marketing Association Conference held in Atlanta in early August. The Editorial Board of the Journal of International Marketing identified their article, “Drivers of Local Relative to Global Brand Purchases: A Contingency Approach,” as making the most significant contribution to the advancement of the practice of international marketing management in 2015.
