Internship Success Story: Gloria Chin

Gloria Chin, a senior marketing major, spent her summer interning at Indeed for their Client Support team in New York City. After hearing about the company from other members of the professional business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi, she decided to speak with a recruiter at the Fall Career Fair and received an interview days later.

As a Client Support Intern, Gloria assisted in auditing different accounts’ budgets and worked with Indeed’s customer relationship management system. She was also able to sit in on client calls and brainstorm with her team on possible methods to improve the performance of job postings and its ROI. Throughout the 12 week program, Gloria was assigned a mentor who guided her through the internship and portrayed the full-time employee experience. Her manager and mentor met with her weekly to ensure her experience at Indeed was what she had hoped for.

Gloria describes Indeed’s company culture as very “open and accepting”. Being able to meet other employees and having the opportunity to network with them was the most memorable experience for her. However, every job also has its downside. Gloria says her least favorite experience was having to wake up early and commute during rush hour along with the rest of New York City. Gloria’s advice: “Just put yourself out there. Make yourself go to the career fair and speak to a few recruiters. It’s nerve wrecking, but it really helps. Also, speak up when you have a question. At my internship, I had to learn a new system and was encouraged to ask questions all the time. This really helped me learn more and motivated me to speak to others at the company besides my team.”
