Associate professor-in-residence in finance, Paul Gilson grew up in the Thames River town of Gravesend, 20 miles east of London, and earned a degree in mathematics from Bristol University. His plan was always to go on to a Ph.D. “But first,” he says, “I needed a job.” So he went to work in London for KPMG, the global accounting giant. His first day at the office, stock markets around the world collapsed in the Black Monday crash of 1987, still the greatest one-day loss by percentage in Dow history. Nami Therapeutics Startup Pursues Promising Drug Therapy
UConn Today – Nami Therapeutics Corporation, which gets its name from the Mandarin word for “nano,” is committed to using nanotechnologies to make big advances in cancer therapy. An early-stage startup led by researchers at the University of Connecticut and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Nami Therapeutics is developing specifically designed nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery.

Hartford accelerator names inaugural cohort of digital health startups
Hartford Business Journal – Hartford’s newest accelerator is set for its official launch next month, having selected 10 startups Wednesday evening. Nine of the 10 that will join the three-month-long Digital Health CT program hail from across the U.S., including two based locally in Farmington, while one is from Israel.
