Samuel F. Pierson SIOR Scholarship Recipients

2017-2018 recipients of the Society of Industrial & Office Realtors (SIOR) scholarship in memory of Samuel F. Pierson included Jordan Angel ’18, Kelly Yates ’18, Hannah Schmidt ’18 and William Golonka ’18. The students have demonstrated academic excellence while pursuing a degree in real estate with intent toward a real estate career. Each of the seniors embrace the learning of real estate with great enthusiasm and look forward to starting their careers this spring.


ICSC Bill Holmes/Hart Realty Advisers Scholarship

Kyle Ernest and Zitao Zhang received the ICSC Foundation Bill Holmes/Hart Realty Advisers scholarship. Thanks to the generosity of John Hart, Hart Realty Advisers and the loyal friends and family of William Holmes, the students received $3000 and a one year student ICSC membership. Ernest is a senior graduating in December 2017. He is currently interning as a valuations analyst at UBS and will be joining the Cushman and Wakefield Prep Program in September 2018. Zhang is a junior and is seeking an internship for the summer.



Student Real Estate Experience Program

2017 SIOR Fall World Conference

This October, SIOR held its annual Fall World Conference in Chicago. The Student Real Estate Experience Program is designed to allow undergraduate and graduate students with a strong interest in real estate to attend, sponsored by SIOR. After an application process, UConn student Kelly Yates ’18 was selected to attend the conference. Says Kelly, “This was an excellent opportunity for me to meet and learn from a wide range of real estate professionals from across the country and the world.” She was able to attend a number of events and hear speakers from the industry discuss key topics and trends.

CREW Boston Educational Foundation Scholarship

Each year, CREW Boston awards a scholarship to a female student who demonstrates an interest in the commercial real estate industry. The student must display a passion for commercial real estate and a desire to work in the field upon graduation. University of Connecticut student Kelly Yates ’18 was awarded the scholarship this year. Kelly currently serves as the president of the UConn Real Estate Society and is pursuing a career in commercial real estate upon graduation in May.
