UConn Business Students Attend Harvard University Innovation Conference

UConn students attended the inaugural Illuminate Global Conference on October 3-4, 2015 at Harvard University. The primary focus of Illuminate Global is to foster and facilitate innovation and entrepreneurship among ambitious and high-achieving undergraduate students. The conference was organized by Harvard Ventures, Harvard’s undergraduate entrepreneurial group. Chuyue Zhou, Conference Chair and Harvard University junior stated, “At Harvard there was a gap in the programming in business between undergraduate and graduate levels. Just three weeks into the fall semester, more than 300 School of Business and Veteran students swapped their summer attire for business professional suits and kicked their job search into full gear at the Fall 2015 School of Business & Veteran Career Expo on September 18, 2015.

When planning the Expo, we realized that students would not expect to focus on their job search so early in the semester, but employers’ recruitment cycles start earlier every year. In order to provide them with the best advantage, we challenged students to renew their search for full time and internship positions early in the game. UConn’s CIBER Case Challenge Proposes Solutions to Real-World Challenges

University of Connecticut’s School of Business Hosts International Competition

From October 14th – 18th, the University of Connecticut (UConn) School of Business will host students from both domestic and international universities, to participate in a competition to solve a real-world problem.

Now in their fifth year of hosting the competition, the UConn School of Business’ Center for Educational Business Education and Research (CIBER) has taken charge in their mission to increase the competitiveness of U.S. business in the global marketplace, as set forth by the U.S. Department of Education which funds the CIBER program. This year’s competition hosts students hailing from 8 different Colleges and Universities, located within the U.S. as well as higher education institutions as far away as Johannesburg, South Africa. Sulin Ba, associate dean and CIBER faculty director, along with Michele Metcalf, CIBER director, will lead the event, proposing a challenging problem derived from the global business marketplace for which the teams of students must envision a solution.Continue Reading

IBM also announced widespread adoption, with half a million professionals registering for this groundbreaking data exploration and visualization service since its introduction less than a year ago.
