As my colleague, Tom Wheeler, puts it “GDPR sets the New Digital World Order” by requiring the industry to fundamentally change its business processes and offer privacy by default and data protection by design. Rather than collecting as much data as possible, businesses are now required to collect only the minimum amount of data they need to offer a particular service. The effects of this new policy will spread beyond the EU. Since the requirements cover all data collected from EU citizens, American corporations that do business in the EU or with EU partners will have to comply with the GDPR.

PR Newswire– For families faced with the difficult decision of placing a loved one in a nursing home, a government rating system is often the only source of information to determine which facilities are the best. However, a new study of nursing homes in California, the nation’s largest system, by faculty at Florida Atlantic University and the University of Connecticut, found that some nursing homes inflate their self-assessment reporting to improve their score in the Five-Star Quality Rating System employed by Medicare to help consumers.
