Case Competition Club receives accolades at UConn CIBER Competition

Florida State University College of Business– Four Florida State University students recently traveled to the University of Connecticut to participate in the Center for International Business and Education and Research Case Competition. Twelve universities participated and students were placed on teams of four from various universities to compete.

Business Law Conference Draws International Experts, Sparks New Ideas

Experts in business law, management and a range of social science disciplines attended a two-day conference at UConn titled, “Public Regulation and Private Governance: Competitors or Collaborators?”

Conference participants, from North America and Europe, presented 14 papers that tackled the complex topic of how public regulations and private governance can complement each other.

Students from Different States, Nations Collaborate to Solve Real-World Problem during UConn’s CIBER Challenge

“I thought we’d never be able to do it,” UConn marketing major Stacia Smart recalls thinking when she heard that she and a team of other college students, all strangers, would have just 24 hours to solve a vexing sustainability problem for a major corporation.

Not only did Smart and her “Quadruple Threat” team develop a possible solution, including a new product idea for Unilever, but they took second-place in the UConn CIBER International Case Challenge this fall.Continue Reading

UConn’s CIBER Case Challenge Proposes Solutions to Real-World Challenges

University of Connecticut’s School of Business Hosts International Competition

From October 14th – 18th, the University of Connecticut (UConn) School of Business will host students from both domestic and international universities, to participate in a competition to solve a real-world problem.

Now in their fifth year of hosting the competition, the UConn School of Business’ Center for Educational Business Education and Research (CIBER) has taken charge in their mission to increase the competitiveness of U.S. business in the global marketplace, as set forth by the U.S. Department of Education which funds the CIBER program. This year’s competition hosts students hailing from 8 different Colleges and Universities, located within the U.S. as well as higher education institutions as far away as Johannesburg, South Africa. Sulin Ba, associate dean and CIBER faculty director, along with Michele Metcalf, CIBER director, will lead the event, proposing a challenging problem derived from the global business marketplace for which the teams of students must envision a solution.Continue Reading
