UConn MBA Students Win 2nd and 3rd Place in the APICS Northeast Supply Chain Case Competition

On April 16, 2011, three MBA teams from UConn’s MBA OPIM Club participated in the third annual student Supply Chain Case Competition sponsored by APICS, the Association for Operations Managment. The competition was held at Quinnipiac University.

The teams from UConn consisted of:

  • Team 1: Darko Nikolic, Ann Nabar, Vipul Chawla, June (Tianxiang) Yu
  • Team 2: Mike Sharp, Rajesh Verma, Joe Tomasello, Natalie D’Oyen
  • Team 3: Dhruv Kapoor, Sumit Krishan, Vineet Pandey, Amit Patnaik

The School is happy to report that our Team 1 was placed Second in the competition and won $800 and Team 2 won the third prize and $500. The team that won the first prize was from BU.

Congratulations to all the participants. The case analysis and presentations by all our teams were excellent and touched on all the important aspects of the case.  The judges were uniformly impressed with our teams. These wins are particularly noteworthy since this was our maiden participation in a supply chain case competition. Particularly significant is the contribution made by Mike Sharp ’11 MBA in his outreach to APICS and other organizations as past president of the MBA OPIM Club.
