Biography

Stephan Ariyan is the Associate General Counsel & Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer for Pearson Group plc (“Pearson”). Pearson is an international publishing and e-learning company headquartered in the United Kingdom. Stephan leads a team of lawyers and compliance professions and is charged with maintaining compliance with global ethics and compliance rules in the Americas, Europe and Asia. Prior to joining Pearson, Stephan was the Chief Legal Officer for Atomyze LLC, a blockchain based fintech company in Greenwich CT and spent ten years as Chief Compliance Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer at Olam International Limited, based in Singapore. Stephan has over 25 years of experience in the environmental, energy, banking, fintech and derivatives trading sectors advising board level and executive leadership teams on legal, regulatory and compliance matters.

Stephan currently teaches two courses at University of Connecticut’s School of Business, FNCE5343 and BLAW5750.

Stephan is currently completing a Master of Law (LLM) at Georgetown University Law in Securities and Financial Regulation and completed his Juris Doctor degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law. He also holds a Master of Science degree from Columbia University in New York City. He is bar certified in Connecticut and the District of Columbia.
