Jeff joined the OPIM department in August 2020. He holds a B.Sc. in Actuarial Science from the Université du Québec à Montreal, and a M.Sc.A. in Mathematics from Polytechnique Montreal. During Jeff’s master’s degree, he was affiliated to the CERC-Data Science for Real-Time Decision-Making, and he took part in research under the supervision of Prof. Andrea Lodi and Prof. David Bergman. His Master’s thesis developed a heuristic using machine learning to optimize a combinatorial problem on sports betting.
Broadly speaking, his research interests lay at the frontier of machine learning and mixed-integer linear programming. Jeff intends working on developing optimization algorithms to leverage the prediction power of deep learning models, and all together prescribe better solutions to complex decision-making problem. Jeff currently works on rapidly optimizing a neural network to prescribe an optimal solution to a healthcare scheduling problem, and he also intend to explore reinforcement to solve complex decision-making problems related to the integration of renewable energy in the electricity network.
