Former Business Leader John Fodor Named As Interim President Of UConn Foundation

John Fodor, a UConn graduate and a frequent guest lecturer there, will become interim president and CEO of the UConn Foundation, the university fundraising arm announced on Friday.

He will begin work at the foundation on Aug. 21, replacing outgoing CEO and President Joshua R. Newton. The university plans to begin a nationwide search for a new foundation president within the next few weeks, and Fodor will remain in the interim position until a new leader is hired.

Fodor had recently retired as executive vice president of global distribution at American Funds, an investment advisory corporation. He worked there for 22 years.

Though he is a Massachusetts resident, Fodor has strong connections to UConn. He graduated from the university in 1985 and has returned frequently as a guest lecturer. He serves on the Dean’s Advisory Cabinet for the UConn School of Business .

“As an alumnus who believes in giving back, I’ve been engaged with the University for many years — as a donor, guest lecturer and volunteer,” Fodor said in a statement provided by UConn. “Serving as interim president and CEO of the foundation is a terrific opportunity to share my business experience and to position the foundation for even greater success in the years ahead.”

Fodor lives with his wife, Sally, and their two daughters in Southborough, Mass. He and his wife oversee the the John and Sally Fodor Family Foundation, a charity that awards scholarships to varsity student-athletes pursuing a degree in sales.
