COMMUNITY SERVICE COMMITTEE
The vision of the Community Service Committee (CSC) is to assist
non-profit organizations on community service activities while
utilizing the skills that the students acquire during the MBA
Program.
We strive to support
the neighboring non-profit organizations in their altruistic
endeavors by working closely with them on various organizational
projects, providing financial aid and time commitments. These
activities also help us in leveraging our relationships with
companies and the surrounding small businesses by maximizing
their exposure to the student body by providing great networking
opportunities. The CSC projects serve as ideal venues for
professionals and students to work side by side, learning about
each other and about the company while working together to
benefit charitable ventures.
Some of the past and
ongoing activities of the CSC include –
-
Toys for Tots Drive with the US
Marine Corps
--- The
UConn School of Business received the Commander's Award for the
years 2004 and 2005 in recognition of the school's support of
this program.
-
American Cancer Society Relay
for Life
--- The
CSC organized fundraisers by partnering with vendors in the
local area to do a food drive by selling breakfasts and lunches
at the School of Business.
-
Guakia (a Hartford-based
organization that works to promote Hispanic culture amongst
inner-city Hartford children)
--- The
CSC worked with Guakia on a marketing based project by
conducting market research and compiling a market plan for the
organization.
-
Khmer Health Advocates, a non-profit organization that
supports the health needs of the survivors of the Mahandorai
(the Cambodian Holocaust)
