Thomas G. Gutteridge

Dr. Gutteridge is Dean Emeritus and Distinguished Professor of Management of the School of Business at the University of Connecticut, and serves as a CIBER Fellow of the UConn CIBER. Prior to his 10 years as Dean of the UConn School of Business, he was dean and Professor of Management of the College of Business and Administration at Southern Illinois University/Carbondale for nine years and a professor and administrator with the School of Management at the State University of New York at Buffalo for thirteen years. Dr. Gutteridge has six years of private sector work experience, primarily in the personnel/labor relations area.


Dr. Gutteridge's teaching and research interests are in career development, resource management, and industrial relations. Dr. Gutteridge has co-authored a book entitled Organizational Career Development: Benchmarks for Building a World-Class Workforce (Jossey-Bass in cooperation with ASTD), and has written a monograph entitled "Career Planning Practices" for AMACOM.

As Dean at SIU-Carbondale, Dean Gutteridge played a key role in obtaining the CIBER grant for the university's business school. His continued interest in international business education and research inspired faculty at the University of Connecticut to seek the CIBER grant. He wholeheartedly supports the CIBER program at the UConn BUS, both committing resources and providing encouragement and administrative support for CIBER activities.
