Sponsorship Opportunities
The University of Connecticut’s Program for Sales Leadership has not only presents a tremendous opportunity in the field of sales to its students, but it has also presents a unique opportunity to sponsoring companies as well.  By becoming a sponsor of the Program for Sales Leadership you gain priority access to students who have been screened and trained and are ready for the challenging career your company can provide them. This access helps you:

 

Lower Recruiting Costs
It is well known that many companies actively recruit recent college grads for positions in sales. Hiring a new graduate can often be a gamble as new hires learn on the job whether sales is a career in which they really have an interest. This initial uncertainty often leads to high turnover and that means higher recruiting costs. Our Certificate Program graduates know for certain that a career in sales is right for them, making them a much more certain hire for sponsor companies.

Decreased Training Costs
When you hire a Certificate Program graduate, much of the training that goes into an entry-level sales position has already been accomplished at UConn’s School of Business. Our students learn and practice the latest techniques in professional selling and are well versed in the benefits and use of the latest sales technology. After the appropriate product training, our sponsor companies find these graduates ready to hit the ground running. Statistics show that the cost of training an average sales person can run as high as $30,000. UConn’s Program for Sales Leadership can cut this cost by one-half or more – a significant savings for your company.

Lower Salesperson Turnover Costs
It is a common perception that salesperson turnover is an inevitable but this isn’t necessarily so for companies that hire correctly. Companies that hire well-trained, motivated salespeople, such as graduates from the Program for Sales Leadership, have an opportunity to build long-lasting, mutually beneficial employee relationships. Our grads don’t come with bad habits from other companies and they see your company as the path to prosperity. Lower turnover results in savings in recruiting, training, and lost-customer costs. 

Enhanced Customer Retention
By hiring good people who know and appreciate the lifetime value of customers, and who have had specific training in managing major accounts, your customer-retention rates will climb. Industry-Specific Training
By becoming a sponsor of the program, your company has the ability to help shape the current curriculum, and alter it to better suit your company’s needs. Our mandate is to make the Program for Sales Leadership as useful to companies as possible, because the end result is to provide students with the tools they need to succeed in their future jobs. A sponsorship entitles your company to a seat on the Program for Sales Leadership Business Advisory Board. It is in consultation with this group that curricula gets developed and enhanced. Be a part of shaping this ground-breaking university-level program. 

Sponsorship Criteria
Sponsor companies come in all shapes and sizes. Our major criterion is a demonstrable eagerness to work with our students as they prepare themselves for an exciting career in professional sales.

Our sponsorships are limited to three companies in any given market segment, and we are looking for top companies in each segment.

Additionally, we are seeking active participation in the program – not just a check.
