FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The sales program offers a Certificate in Professional Selling for both marketing majors and non-majors, as well as a concentration in professional selling in the marketing department.

What is the educational focus of the program?
The sales program focuses on giving students the skills and confidence to successfully sell products and services in a variety of fields, providing them the opportunity to become top sales people in the country. Through specific coursework in professional selling techniques, sales force automation skills, and account management, students learn positive ways to handle the sales process.

What are the benefits to the students?
By completing the Sales Certificate Program, students gain invaluable experience through coursework and internship hours with top companies. While acquiring the knowledge needed from individual majors, the sales certificate offers the added benefit of learning and practicing  powerful sales techniques. In today’s tough job market, added skills are what differentiate one resume from another. Because the sales program is only offered in a few other schools in the country, most other students will not have this distinction. The program also enjoys corporate sponsorship, permitting a closer link to recruitment, professional networking, and job placement.

What are the benefits for the sponsors?
By becoming a corporate sponsor, your company is able to interview on campus, obtain the best sales people in the market, and make the recruitment process much more streamlined. Your company also has the ability to influence the curriculum to help tailor the program to some of your needs. The University is always looking for professionals who can add additional value to the program by teaching courses, thereby providing students with a real-world view of the business world.

Will the Sales Program help me get a job?
YES!  One of the main focuses of this program is involved with sales specific internships, which often turn into job offers upon graduation. The program has direct links with their corporate sponsors, creating a network of possible employers. You can post your resume online for companies to see, and the added skills of professional selling will make you more marketable to many industries.
