Dunbar’s research focuses on how tax policy affects taxpayers, both individuals and corporation. Her current work analyzes the distributional effects of a corporate cashflow tax. She has published in the Journal of the American Taxation Association, Journal of Public Economics, National Tax Journal, Public Finance Review, and Tax Notes. Dunbar received university-level teaching awards at the University of Texas at San Antonio and the University of Iowa. Since joining the UConn accounting department in 1998, she received the Professor-of-the-Year Award at the department level, the Chancellor’s Technology Award for her work in online education, honorable mention in the Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium/SNET First Annual Teacher Innovation Awards, and honorable mention for her business entities course in the WebCT 2001 Exemplary Course Project. She is currently the Vice-President of the American Taxation Association.
