Mentoring Program
The Health Care Management Program coordinates a unique mentoring
program each academic year that links students in the program
with senior health care professionals in the field. The program is designed
to help students gain a better understanding of the large and
complex health care industry through on-going interaction with
professionals that share similar academic/professional interests.
Each
student participating in this program is matched with a health
care executive that has been selected based not only on their
professional careers, but also their commitment to working closely
with students through a mentoring process. As part of this process,
students are encouraged to visit workplaces, arrange to "shadow"
executives on the job, and help identify off-campus internships
as well as summer placements. Our program mentors also facilitate
the development of communication skills within the context of
a range of learning activities. Guidelines developed specifically
for this program are used by both the mentors and students used
during this process.
