All doctoral students are responsible for acting in accordance with
The Student Code
Course Grades
Students are expected to maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least a B (3.00) in all graduate courses taken in the School of Business. Maintenance of good academic standing in the School of Business Ph.D. Program requires that this standard be met after completing two semesters and beyond. Whenever a student fails to meet this standard, his or her academic performance will be reviewed by the School of Business Ph.D. Program Committee to determine whether the student shall be permitted to remain in the program.
If necessary, a program dismissal letter shall be sent to the student listing names of faculty committee participating in the decision and date of dismissal.
Annual Review
At the end of each academic year, students who have not yet completed the dissertation proposal undergo a performance review and evaluation by respective departmental PhD faculty committees. If, based on this evaluation, a student is not making satisfactory progress, the committee may dismiss the student from the departmental program. The results of the evaluation will be communicated in writing to each student and the BUS PhD office. In the case of dismissal from the program, a letter should be sent to the student listing the departmental PhD faculty who participated in the decision, the basis for dismissal, and the date the dismissal will go into effect; a copy of this letter should be sent to the BUS PhD office.
In cases where the School of Business Policy is unique or more rigorous than the Graduate School’s, the policies and procedures described in the School of Business, Ph.D. Academic Standards listed here, will take precedence. In all other cases, the Graduate School’s rules govern.
