UConn MBA Recruiting Policies, Guidelines and Timeline
We follow the Principles for Employment Professionals of the National Association of College and Employers (NACE), and its guidelines for offers. These guidelines work to help both students and employers get the most of the recruitment process.
In summary, if offers are extended early in the campus recruiting cycle, employers
- Provide students a minimum of three weeks to decide and not require decisions earlier than six months prior to the candidates graduation or end of classes (Thanksgiving day for May graduates or summer interns); and
- Provide students the opportunity to request deadline extensions to allow a reasonable period for investigation of other recruiting opportunities for comparison.
- For offers made within two months of graduation (after March 1 for May graduates or summer interns), please allow at least two weeks from the date of the written offer.
Employers are encouraged to communicate decisions to candidates within a reasonable time frame, and communicate that time frame to candidates. Employers are expected to refrain from any undue pressure to accept.
Exploding offers are strongly discouraged (e.g., any offer that does not afford a candidate the appropriate time to either accept or decline and/or has special incentives attached for the purposes of inducing early acceptances). Such offers put enormous pressure on our students to make a decision before they have completed the interviewing process.
Timeline
Permanent Hire recruiting typically begins during the Fall Semester for May graduates. On campus recruiting begins in September, company presentations and information sessions. On campus interviews begin in early October. Firms usually hold second round interviews in early and mid November and extend offers in late November or early December.
Internship recruiting typically takes place during the Spring semester, although many firms choose to discuss internship opportunities during company presentations in the Fall. On campus internship recruiting begins in mid January. Most firms try to wrap up on campus internship recruiting before Spring Break in mid March. Internship offers are usually extended by April 1st.

Contact Business Placement and Career Center to schedule your interview dates, keeping the following in mind:
- Position Title and Description: Firms that provide detailed information about the available positions as well as some information about the company and division consistently receive the most vigorous response from students.
- Type of Schedule:
- Invite Only: Pre-select all of your interviewees based on the resume book or request a resume drop.
- Mixed: Pre-select some of your candidates and allow other interested students to sign-up for remaining slots. This ensures a balanced mix of students whose backgrounds fit your needs, as well as students who are very interested in the company.
- Length of Interviews: Generally, firms choose to conduct 30 minute or 45 minute interviews. Some firms also opt for a rotating schedule which allows two interviewers to meet a single candidate in back-to-back interviews. You may request more than one room and let us know the breaks you plan. We will provide you with a form to collect this information.
if you have any questions.
