7:30 a.m. in the BUSN Finance Conference room 463; 6-8 meetings during semester
with dates to be determined.
Real Estate Society - Professional Speakers in Classroom
Each undergrad course will have two or so speakers each during semester. Dates determined by instructor. Coordinate dates with Ray.
Reality meets the classroom
Industry leaders present discussion of recent transactions, deals and
developments as well as the structure and financing of projects.This event is primarily for MBA students. See Boston MBA field trip for date.
Scholarships/Internships/Placement
Scholarship applications due on
Saturday, February 6th. Student resumes for internships/job placement due Saturday, February 6th as well.

Real Estate Capital Markets Presentation
Co-sponsored by Real Estate Finance Association, October 16, 2009. This event includes presentations by leading industry representatives. The format will be the following: Catered luncheon to be held at the Downtown Graduate Learning Center at 11:30am followed by the presentation at 12:30, ending at approximately 1:30pm.
Alumni Football/Reception Event
Saturday, October 17, 2009 Homecoming – UConn vs. Louisville Football game/BBQ at Rentschler Field, East Hartford with pre-game reception 2 hours prior to the start of the game. See Debbie for tickets. We expect 150-200 people to attend.
19th Annual Commercial Real Estate Conference
Wednesday, November 11 at the Farmington Marriott Hotel, 11:45 – 5:00 pm. Format will be as in the past with lunch at 11:45, 1:00 p.m. keynote Bill Wheaton of MIT followed by the Connecticut economic update and updates on major commercial markets in Connecticut. Students are invited to attend beginning at 1:00 (after lunch). As usual we expect 250-300 attendees.
MBA Student Activities
Breakfast networking events scheduled every other week in FNCE Conference room 463 at 7:30am, September – November 2009. Faculty are invited to use these events to share information with the MBA students on job opportunities, course information, etc. In addition MBA students will participate in case presentations from outside firms during the semester. Watch for dates.
Real Estate Society Events
The Real Estate Society will hold several social/networking events throughout the semester, which includes a networking breakfast scheduled every other week in FNCE Conference room 463 at 7:00 a.m., September – November 2009. Watch the Student Newsletter for updates on these events. The Professional Speakers in Classroom events are currently being scheduled. Watch for these dates and encourage students to attend.
Event Descriptions
Fall New York City Student Fieldtrip
Each Fall semester the Real Estate Center organizes a student fieldtrip
to New York City where faculty and students are hosted by leaders in
the real estate industry. After a luncheon presentation students visit
with a variety of companies. Last year's fieldtrip was Wednesday,
September 17, 2008. The bus was scheduled to leave Storrs at 7:30 a.m. and returned
at approximately 11:00 p.m. Lunch for participating students was hosted by ISCS.
Following the presentations we planned to hold an
alumni gathering in New York City. Details concerning sign up for this year's trip will be
posted as they
become available.
Golf Tournament
Each Fall UCRECC sponsors a golf tournament as a networking event for
members and friends. Over 144 Participants take part in a day of golf
and other activities. The Fall 2008 Golf Tournament took place on
Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Andy Tedford's Oxford Greens Country Club in
Oxford, CT. Registration began at 9:30 a.m. and lunch was
served on the go. A reception/dinner closed the event. For more

Fall Networking Event
Each Fall UCRECC sponsors an annual networking event accompanied by
attendance at an UConn football game. Alumni and friends gather for a
pre-game tailgate reception. This networking event provides an
opportunity to meet with old friends and make new acquaintances. Last year, it
was held on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at
the UConn-Cincinnati football game. The tailgate party began
two hours prior to the start of the game. Registration and football ticket
information will be available for this year's prior to the fall semester.
Real Estate Capital Markets Presentation
Each Fall UCRECC members and friends attend a Real Estate Capital
Markets presentation at the School of Business Graduate Learning Center
in downtown Hartford. This presentation reviews all aspects of current
status of the real estate capital markets. The Fall 2008 Real Estate
Capital Markets presentation was held on Friday October 24, 2008 at 11:30 a.m.. Please call

Commercial Real Estate Conference
Each Fall the Center, in collaboration with financial institutions, real estate
firms, and professional societies, hosts the Connecticut Commercial Real Estate
Conference. The purpose of this conference is to bring together real estate
industry leaders, government officials, and academic forecasters to discuss the
economic outlook and future prospects for Connecticut commercial real estate
markets. Dates for the Conference are still to be determined and will be posted

Spring Networking Event
Each Spring UCRECC sponsors a networking event accompanied by
attendance at a UConn basketball game. Alumni and friends gather for a
pre-game reception in downtown Hartford. This popular networking event
provides an opportunity to meet with old friends and make new
acquaintances. Watch for information about the next year's event. For

Real Estate Market Trends Presentation
Each Spring UCRECC members and friends attend a Real Estate Market
Trends presentation at the School of Business Graduate Learning Center
in downtown Hartford. This presentation reviews all aspects of current
trends in real estate markets. The Real Estate Market Trends
presentation was held in January. For more

Hartford Student Fieldtrip
Each spring semester students take part in a visit to a Hartford based
company. In recent years Konover Development Corporation has hosted
this event. The purpose of this presentation is to aquaint students
with a detailed operational analyis of a real estate development firm.
This trip is scheduled in the middle of Spring Semester.
Connecticut Housing Conference
Each Spring the Center hosts the Connecticut Housing Conference. The
conference is co-sponsored by financial institutions, professional
groups, and real estate firms. Presentations are given on the current
status of the Connecticut economy, house prices and construction
trends, and Connecticut legislation.
Awards Banquet
The Center for Real Estate, in conjunction with the Department of
Finance, holds its Awards Banquet each Spring. Various awards are given
and scholarship recipients are recognized. Undergraduate Student of the
Year, Graduate Student, Alumni of the Year, and Industry Partner of the
Year are among those featured. Details concerning this event will be posted soon.
Speakers in the Classroom Series
Each semester alumni and friends are invited into the classroom to
share their area of expertise. Speakers are treated to lunch with
members of the Real Estate Society before their classroom
presentations. During the presentation they share information on their
organization's role in the real estate industry, commercial real estate
trends, and career tips for students entering the real estate industry.

Real Estate Industry Partner Day
Each Fall and Spring semesters Real Estate MBA students spend a day
with one of the Real Estate Center’s industry partners. A case study
presentation is the highlight of the day with the firm discussing in
detail a recent transaction. The Fall presentation is typically
associated with the real estate capital markets side of the business.
The Spring presentation is typically associated with the fundamental
analysis side of the real estate business.
Connecitut Real Estate Instructors Seminars
Each Spring and Fall the Real Estate Center staff conducts seminars to
help the instructors of courses approved by the Connecticut Real Estate
Commission throughout the State to remain current with new developments
in legislation, technology, and teaching methodology. Information about
