Biography: Dr. Scott joined the University of Connecticut in 1981 as the first head of the Department of Operations and Information Management. Prior to joining the University of Connecticut he was on the accounting faculties of the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Texas, and the University of Oklahoma. He has also been a visiting professor at the Universite d'Aix Marseille in France, and has given a series of seminars to faculty at each of several universities variously located in England, Scotland, Sweden, and Norway. Dr. Scott has taught several undergraduate and graduate information systems courses at the University of Connecticut, including required management information systems courses, advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in systems analysis, systems design, and emerging and Internet technologies. Dr. Scott's research interests are strategic planning for technologies and management of emerging technologies. His research writings have appeared in Accounting Review Supplement, Accounting and Business Research, ABACUS, Business Review, Wharton Quarterly, Financial Executive, R&D Management, Technology Analysis and Strategic Management, Journal of Product Innovation Management, and other journals. Dr. Scott also has authored or co-authored several research books and research reports as well as authored chapters in both academic and practitioner books. He is the author of the popular text Principles of Management Information Systems (McGraw Hill, 1986). Dr. Scott's research has been funded by such sources as the Price Waterhouse Foundation, the American Petroleum Institute, the Touche Ross Foundation, and the Arthur Andersen Foundation.
