Company Policies
A simple written request for information about sponsorship policies, directed to the head of your Human Resources department may be the best start. If there is no specific policy on Executive MBA Programs, you will want to review some of the differences between this and other MBA degrees programs (such as schedule and course load, program costs), to help you work out a mutually satisfying arrangement with your organization.

Explain It As An Investment In Productivity
Top companies know that it pays to develop their human capital. You have already proven that you are a valuable and committed employee. Now is the time to discuss ways in which the Executive MBA Program can help you reach an even higher level of performance, boosting the productivity of your whole operation. Enhance your interpersonal skills, as well as oral and written communication skill. You will become a more well-rounded manager, and gain the knowledge, motivation and leadership skills companies are looking for in today’s competitive business world.
Emphasize The Convenient Schedule
The alternating weekend format lets you complete the MBA in the least possible time, while keeping a balance between job responsibilities and your studies. At the same time, your company profits from continuous quality improvements as you apply new knowledge to your work immediately.
Accentuate The High Value And Modest Cost
The UConn Executive MBA Program is an instance where the best really does cost less. Other programs of this type cost more than twice as much, while requiring more time out of the office. We believe that this program has no equal for practical worth and academic value—or for the personalized attention you receive from EMBA faculty and staff.
Mention Our Success And Our Reputation
UConn began offering the Executive MBA Program in 1990 as a natural complement to its excellent full-time and part-time MBA Programs. Since then, more than 500 success-driven professionals have found the Executive MBA the right choice. The University of Connecticut is ranked the #1 public university MBA program in New England by U.S. News and World Reports and was included in Business Week's latest rankings of the best business schools in the country.

The Executive MBA is a 48-credit program. There are two orientation sessions (Saturdays) at the beginning of the program, followed by an In-Residence Week where students spend a week in class all day. The In-Residence Week, held at UConn's main campus in Storrs, allows students to get acquainted and to interact with their group-mates and prepare for their upcoming projects. Then classes meet every other weekend from September to June. The International Study Trip takes place in June when students travel to a foreign country, studying foreign business practices, management styles and norms, operations and the culture. The trip lasts one week. During the summer students work on their Executive Management Projects which incorporates their experience from the trip with the knowledge and skills gained from the first half of the program. The normal class schedule resumes in September and the program ends in April with a commencement ceremony.

All courses are taught by distinguished faculty members of the UConn School of Business and enhanced with presentations by leading business experts to speak about current business issues. At the end of the second semester students go on an international trip which allows students to meet with foreign business leaders, government officials, and faculty from foreign universities. A series of company visits are conducted to learn about different aspects of doing business in a foreign country. Students will then do a project on one of the foreign company visits for their Global Business Issues course. And, in the fall there will be follow-up seminars in operations, finance, marketing, and management that will tie in with their international experience. In the last semester there is an executive management project course that allows students to do an independent study on a topic of their choosing. This project allows the students to tailor the program to their needs. Many students use this opportunity to conduct projects for their own companies.
