The Office of Diversity Initiatives (ODI) focuses on the development of strategic partnerships within the School of Business to create and sustain a diverse and inspiring environment for excellence in teaching and learning. The office enhances the School of Business' outreach to high-quality student applicants and prospective faculty through its initiatives with high schools, colleges, universities, and minority business/professional organizations.

Mission
Business in the twenty-first century will operate in highly complex and competitive global markets. In these environments, corporate America's prospects for economic growth, increased worker productivity and enhanced business/company profitability will depend significantly on its capacity to develop effective leadership in a diverse workforce.

The Office of Diversity Initiatives strongly believes the linkages it builds among its office, the University of Connecticut School of Business, alumni, secondary schools and the private sector form the foundation for preparing students, workers and organizations to meet the challenges of developing a diverse workforce and sustaining competitive advantage.

The goals of the Office of Diversity Initiatives include outreach and service excellence. This will be accomplished by increasing the admissions of high-quality minority students at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the School of Business. Primarily by providing scholarships, fellowships, mentors and role models to help foster high retention rates and success within the School of Business.

The opportunity to compete through diversity has never been greater for corporations, secondary schools and colleges/universities. Now is the time to creatively capitalize on diversity in the workforce.
