We seek to recruit and admit doctoral students who have the ability and motivation to conduct scholarly research. Admission decisions are based on a comprehensive evaluation of an applicant's file. We consider the quality and rigor of your prior education and grades, GMAT scores, work experience, recommendation letters, and motivation to undertake a doctoral program in business administration. We look for evidence that you are intellectually curious, have the ability to use abstract concepts, and have excellent verbal and quantitative skills. We also assess your fit with the research faculty in your intended area of concentration.

Ph.D. students in the School of Business are formally enrolled in The Graduate School of the University of Connecticut. This association with the Graduate School allows business students the advantages of access to the resources of the entire University. However, it also requires that students must be admitted by both the Graduate School and the School of Business.

Within the School of Business, admission decisions are made by the faculty in the applicant's area of concentration, with a subsequent review by a School-wide Ph.D. Admissions Committee. Therefore, applicants must specify an intended area of concentration on their application. We offer concentrations in Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, and Operations and Information Management. If you are unsure about the area in which you would like to pursue your studies, we strongly urge you to research your options carefully and apply once you have determined what best suits your interests and goals.
