Storrs, CT (4/1/2008) - BusinessWeek.com: Students Rank Accounting Program #11
In a follow-up special report to the "2008 Undergraduate Best B-Schools" ranking published earlier this year in February, BusinessWeek.com published an "Undergraduate Specialty Program Rankings" in which UConn's Accounting program ranked #11 nationally. For the survey, BusinessWeek.com asked business majors at schools to rank their programs on a scale of one to five, in 11 different academic categories. Schools were ranked in a range of academic fields, including microeconomics, accounting, financial management, business law, corporate strategy, and ethics. More information >

U.S. News & World Report released its Best Graduate Schools 2009 ranking. Overall, the UConn School of Business ranked 52nd among US public & private institutions and 26th among public institutions.

Min Lin was appointed Assistant Finance Director II for the School of Business. Min graduated from the School with a degree in Accounting. She comes to us from the School of Nursing, where she served as Business and Finance Director. She has also held financial and accounting positions at the Connecticut Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office and Keeper Corporation.

The Ph.D. Program recently announced the winners of the 2008 Ph.D. student teaching awards. The winners of the 2008 teaching awards in the concentrations (in order of photo) are: Zheng (Chris) Chen (Management), Ioannis Kareklas (Marketing), Linda Kolbasovsky (Accounting), Li Chen (OPIM) and Bryan Schmutz (Finance). The winner of the 2008 School of Business Ph.D. Student Teaching Award is Bryan Schmutz.
