It is awarded to faculty who are not already supported by Chair or Professorship appointments. The award is supported by the Ackerman Fund, the School and the departments. The purpose of the Ackerman Fund is to "grant a monetary reward to faculty members who have excelled in classroom teaching, curriculum development, research, outreach to business and state agencies."
