11th Annual Wolff Business Plan Competition Winners Announced Storrs, CT (4/24/2008) - The 11th Annual Wolff Business Plan Competition was held on April 18, 2008, in the School of Business Board Room. Competing for $10,000 in prizes, UConn MBA students presented – and defended – business plans that each hoped ultimately offered a unique value added contribution and was difficult to imitate, two of the key competition criteria. The distinguished judging panel included Kevin Bouley, President & CEO of Nerac, Inc.; Gene Grayson, Retired Travelers Corporation Executive; Liddy Karter, Managing Director of Karter Capital Advisors, LLC; and Gary Wolff, President of Wolff Insurance, Inc. 1st Place ($5,000) was awarded to Kevin Roth (MBA Student, Waterbury Campus, Expected Graduation: Spring 2010) for his business idea for a modern market for written works of art called PileSurfer, LLC. He will strive to provide a more effective process for writers to submit manuscripts. 2nd Place ($2,500) was awarded to Richard Hurd (MBA Student, Hartford Campus, Expected Graduation: Fall 2008) for Veritas Skin Rx, a company that will offer skin therapy the way you prescribe it. 3rd Place ($1,500) was awarded to Giovanni ("Johnny") Barbalaco (MBA Student, Stamford Campus, Expected Graduation: Summer 2008) for Satellite Office Solutions, a company that will support local small business owners with office space provisions and virtual office services. 4th Place ($1,000) was awarded to Obichi Ikechi (MBA Student, Hartford Campus, Expected Graduation: Spring 2008) for Ikechi International Trading, a company that will provide a unique car buying experience in the West African sub-region.
