Partnership Provides UConn Alumni Another Tool in Job Placement

Stamford, CT (8/13/2008) - Bringing together over 50 UConn School of Business MBA students and alumni with potential employers, the first partnership event between the University of Connecticut and the Woodcliff Lake, NJ based career transition services firm Lee Hecht Harrison sought to connect job seekers with hiring companies while providing an opportunity to build networking relationships. The July 24th event was held on the Stamford Campus of the University of Connecticut and sponsored by the Business Career Center. Clients of Lee Hecht Harrison were also invited.

"This is just another example of the different approaches that the School of Business is taking to reach out to our alumni well after they graduate and provide them with top quality resources for job placement," said Jud Saviskas, Executive Director of the Business Career Center.

"In a difficult job market made increasingly complex by new resources on the Internet, we want to provide the opportunity for our alumni to meet face to face with potential employers in a productive setting," he said, "partnering with Lee Hecht Harrison allows us to tap into their experience which in turn will help all of our alumni."

Twelve employers attended the event, which attracted UConn alumni from both the Fairfield County and Hartford areas.

"We are proud to join with the UConn School of Business to match qualified candidates with some of the region's leading employers. It is important for these corporations to see the talent which exists in the job market today and we are glad to showcase UConn alumni and MBA students alongside Lee Hecht clients," remarked Dennis Amrine, Job Market Consultant at Lee Hecht Harrison.

Based on the success of the Stamford event, the Business Career Center will be looking at future opportunities to partner with Lee Hecht Harrison to connect more of the School's vast network of over 30,000 alumni, Saviskas said.

"Much like in a job search, relationships are important to us. We want to make sure that whether an alum graduated one year or ten years ago, we are offering them the career search services that they need to compete and ultimately be placed in a successful position," he said.
