US News Ranks UConn School of Business in Top 50 U.S. Business Schools(8/31/2009) -The UConn School of Business received high rankings in “America’s Best Colleges 2010” by US News & World Report. The School is now ranked #28 among all public business schools, an increase of 2 spots over last year’s ranking. The School remains #1 in New England and is #48 among all business schools nationally. This year, 437 accredited undergraduate business programs were considered, and the programs were ranked based on a peer assessment survey sent in the spring of 2009. “We are extremely pleased to be recognized as one of the top 50 schools of business in the country,” notes Linda Klein, Associate Dean, UConn School of Business. “This ranking provides external validity to the informal feedback that we receive from our corporate recruiters that UCONN Business Students are extremely well prepared with the skills necessary to make an immediate impact in the workplace and they also come to the job with a strong work ethic.” Undergraduate specialty programs are also ranked by US News. The School’s Real Estate specialty climbed two spots to be ranked at #6. The Insurance and Risk Management specialty maintained its top #12 ranking. “The high caliber of education that I have received here at UCONN's School of Business has been both exceptional and challenging,” notes Simone Hill, Senior, Finance Major, Co-President of UCONN Undergraduate Business Leadership Council. “Our increase in numerous business school rankings has only affirmed the value of this School’s education, and I see continuous exponential growth and improvement in our programs over the next decade.” Klein adds, “Excellence in both academics and student quality provides the foundation for the strength of the UCONN School of Business reputation.” The University of Connecticut retains its rank as best public university in New England; this is the 11th consecutive year UConn has been #1 in New England. UConn is also ranked #26 among all public universities in the US; consistent with last year’s standing. Rankings are based on peer assessment, student selectivity, faculty and financial resources, alumni giving, and the rates for graduation and retention.
