Alumni Reach Out to Current Students Heading to NYC Stamford, CT (3/25/2009) - On Friday, February 6th, alumni and current students gathered in Stamford, CT for mock interviews and networking. This event provided a unique opportunity for UConn Business students who want to live and/or work in New York City. The event was a great success for both students and alumni. Around 70 students attended and 14 alumni including: Christophe Pane MBA '05, Tate Wingate '96, Bill Congdon '75 MBA ‘81, Tim Kelly MBA '08 and Celia Bobrowsky '80. Rick Bodio MBA '10, participated and took a lot away from the event. Rick was interviewed by Christophe Pane MBA '05, in what he calls the hardest interviews of his life. Christophe tested Rick’s problem solving ability through a mixed finance exam with brain teasers. While difficult without preparation, Christophe made sure to educate Rick on what he needs to know moving forward with interviews, concepts to master and extracurricular activities to get involved in. Rick is grateful for the opportunity he had with Christophe and feels he is a better prepared interview candidate because of it. Celia Bobrowsky '80 was also an alumni mock interviewer at the event. Celia currently works for Major League Baseball as the Director of Community Affairs. Celia said the event was “a great opportunity for UConn students to connect with an impressive group of UCONN alumni and at the same time, it was great for us to provide some guidance for future graduates”. She, among other alumni, wishes she would have had this opportunity while attending UCONN. Making connections in your industry is becoming increasingly more important in today's business world. For current UConn students, the alumni are a resource to not only know more about adjusting to post-degree life in a new city, but as industry professionals, they are also a resource to help students break into their chosen fields. This event is one of many being held to bring the alumni and student body together. This event was sponsored by the NYC Chapter of the UConn Alumni Association and the UConn School of Business Alumni. School of Business Pressroom Back to Previous Page |
