Storrs, CT (11/5/2007) - In this issue: Robert Bird presented with two awards, Shantaram Hegde publishes book, and the UConn Finance Society participates in Travelers case competition.
Assistant Professor Robert Bird was presented with two awards by the Academy of Legal Studies in Business for a research paper, co-authored with Daniel Cahoy, associate professor of business law at Penn State's Smeal College of Business. He received the Holmes-Cardozo Award for best paper and the Ralph J. Bunche International Business Law Award for outstanding legal research in international business law. 
Research and Markets has announced the addition of "Futures Markets Made Easy with 200 Questions and Answers" to their offering. A series of logically arranged questions and answers designed in response to a simulated readers' mind co-authored by Dr. Sunil Parameswaran, CEO of Tarheel Consultancy Services, and Dr. Shantaram P. Hegde, professor of finance at the University of Connecticut. The book covers the entire gamut from valuation and hedging and speculation related issues to the intricacies of order placement and execution on future exchanges. While emphasizing conceptual clarity, it does not shy away from discussing intricate technicalities where the authors think that such coverage is essential to reinforce the presentation.UConn's Finance Society was invited to participate in a case competition at Travelers headquarters in downtown Hartford on October 12. Participating schools, which also included Babson, Bentley, University of Hartford and the University of Minnesota, presented analyses and recommendations of a real-world finance/insurance problem to Travelers management. The UConn team included Dan Innamorato, Mouy Taing, Kyle McLaughlin, Jeff Cainen and Andrew Kenyon.
