CAPS & GOWNS
Proper attire is required. The UConn Co-op will begin taking orders for caps and gowns on April 1st. Check the website
provided at the end of these instructions for details. Mortarboards should be worn straight. For the School of Business,
the tassel is worn on the right side of the mortarboard before the graduation ceremony and moved to the left at the close
of the ceremony. Men will remove their mortarboards for the singing of the National Anthem.
TICKETS
Tickets will be distributed by the UConn Co-op in connection with the purchase of your cap and gown. Please take only as many tickets as you need, up to a maximum of 10. Tickets will be given only to those students who purchase their caps and gowns through the UConn Co-op. Children 4 years and older will require a guest ticket for entry into the ceremony.
UNDERGRADUATE PROCESSIONAL
Please note that there will be no rehearsal prior to commencement. On Sunday, May 12th, proceed directly to the Greer Field House on Hillside Road. Arrive no later than 8:10 am to register,
pick up your completed Information and Name Card (see Information and Name Card). Please follow signage indicating the location of the appropriate registration table. Marshals will help form lines and lead the procession to Gampel Pavilion and lead you to your seat. They will then direct you to the floor where you will receive the diploma cover from Dean Elliott or Associate Dean Gramling. You will then be congratulated, photographed and directed to return to your seat. YOU MUST REMAIN IN YOUR SEAT UNTIL THE CEREMONY HAS CONCLUDED. The ceremony is expected to last approximately ninety minutes. We anticipate diplomas will be mailed a few months after graduation.
University Scholars and those students receiving honors and distinction will be acknowledged in the School's program.
RECESSIONAL
After completion of all the exercises, the Dean, speakers, special guests, faculty, and staff will recess after which you will recess with your class. Your guests will be asked to remain in their places until the entire above recessional is completed.
PHOTOGRAPHS
A professional photographer will be at the ceremony taking photographs of all graduates before, during and after you receive your diploma covers. If you wish to receive a color proof, you must fill out the address card that will be provided for you at Gampel when you take your seats. Fill out the card completely and bring it with you when you descend to the floor to receive your diploma cover. An assistant will collect the card. You may be asked to speak your name into a tape recorder before you move forward to receive congratulations, further insuring you receive the correct proofs. Proofs will be mailed to the address you provide on the card.
Members of the audience may take photographs from their seats. No tripods will be allowed in Gampel Pavilion.
Members of the audience using hand-held cameras may take pictures during the ceremony except from the processional
paths and the presentation areas. In order to accommodate everyone, individuals are requested to move to those areas for
only a short interval and then return to their seats. GUESTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED ON THE PAVILION
FLOOR OR IN THE AREAS DESIGNATED FOR GRADUATING STUDENTS.
TRAFFIC & PARKING
Traffic in the Storrs area is extraordinarily heavy on Commencement day. There will be a total of nine different Commencement ceremonies throughout the day on Sunday, May 12th, which will result in significant traffic flow challenges. Please allow extra travel time to arrive on campus and register in Greer Field House.

The shuttle buses will run throughout the period of the Commencement events and for your return to the above listed parking lots. Some traffic areas will be restricted on campus so please plan accordingly.
Handicapped parking will be available for vehicles with official state handicapped parking permits on the ground level of the North and South Parking Garages. People needing special accommodations may be dropped off near Gampel Pavilion. All entrances to Gampel Pavilion are wheelchair accessible.
