The Marketing Concentration and Certificate Options

The Marketing Concentration includes MKTG 5115 and any four 3-credit 5000-level Marketing electives.

A student may choose to focus on a particular area of Marketing, and complete a Marketing Certificate. The Marketing Department offers three certificates: Marketing Intelligence, Strategic Marketing, and Marketing for Global Competitiveness. Each certificate includes four required courses (MKTG 5115 and three other required courses), and one elective (see chart below for the required and elective courses for each certificate). Students may apply no more than two courses (MKTG 5115 and one other course) from one Marketing Certificate to another Marketing Certificate; if interested in completing more than one certificate, please consult with the MBA staff to ensure that these guidelines are being followed. Completing a marketing concentration does not require completing a Certificate.

Accelerator credits may not be used toward Marketing electives in the concentration; they may be used, however, toward the nine general elective credits available to Full-Time MBA students.

The Marketing Department will attempt to offer courses on a regular basis, such that a student will have the opportunity to complete each Certificate during their program. The courses will be available across campuses, including Storrs, Hartford, Waterbury, and Stamford. In other words, not every course will be offered at every campus.
