Finance

The goal of an MBA Concentration in Finance is to provide important skills in financial management through a structured set of courses that students and their eventual employers will value, while exploiting relative strengths in other areas of business education. A concentration in Finance reinforces the key concepts and tools of finance, shows how to apply them to rapidly changing problems and use them with modern technology and information sources. The concentration in Health Care Management & Insurance Studies prepares students for leadership roles, and analyst/consultant positions, within the health care industry, and provides students with the theoretical and conceptual foundations necessary to apply business skills within this setting. The Marketing Concentration provides students with the flexibility to design their own concentration by selecting four Marketing electives germane to their specific career interests. We provide a solid base of knowledge in an array of areas including market research, customer relationship management, brand management, global marketing strategy, pricing, new product development and innovations, data analytics, and new media marketing strategies. Students also have the opportunity to complete an Advanced Business Certificate in Marketing Intelligence, Marketing for Global Competitiveness, or Strategic Marketing which prepare students for careers in marketing research and analysis, global marketing, product and brand management, and marketing communications.

Real estate is a major investment vehicle as well as a vital resource in the economy. The real estate concentration prepares students wishing to enter one of the many professional fields in real estate, including investment analysis, consulting, financing, brokerage, appraisal, development, and corporate asset management. The concentration provides students the opportunity to learn the general principles necessary for effective real estate decision-making and how the real estate property and financial markets operate. The program provides students the flexibility to focus on areas of individual interest. The concentration includes courses that cover real estate market analysis and information technology, valuation and appraisal theory, investment and portfolio management, mortgage financing and the analysis of mortgage-backed securities. The MBA concentration in Venture Consulting is designed to address the ever-increasing needs of a broad base of clients -- large corporations, private equity firms, venture capitalists, and entrepreneurial firms -- who are interested in building value from existing businesses as well as capturing new opportunities that will either enhance their competitive advantage or establish new businesses. Through a mix of coursework and experiential learning, including project participation at the Innovation Accelerator, students build new knowledge and skill sets, acquire market-ready expertise, and work to solve, in real time, complex problems posed by an uncertain and unpredictable business environment.
