UConn Business in Florence, Italy (summer)

This summer program for Business majors or students who have applied to the School of Business will bring you the new and the old of Florence and the surrounding area. The city is a monument to the Renaissance, and contains more art per square mile than any other place on earth. Its urban texture spans two thousand years of history, and on its streets walked Brunelleschi, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Galileo, and a host of others who helped shape our understanding of the sciences and art. It is also the home to firms that compete in international markets using the latest technology, but who also have strong ties to the history of this region of Italy.
Each week, you will be led on site visits by Professor Jeff Rummel, who holds the Cizik Professorship in Manufacturing and Technology Management. The group will meet with Italian managers at their facilities to explore the organization of different production processes and the decisions that are required to operate them effectively.
