The Family Business Program is proud of its regional network of facilitators who have significant expertise in helping family businesses identify and solve challenges. They are highly skilled professionals whose role is to participate in and/or facilitate applicable Family Business Program initiatives and serve as a resource to members.
Wayne L. Bragg Wayne L. Bragg is an Adjunct Professor of Accounting at the University of Connecticut School of Business and independently consults on business plan development, performance measurement, profitability analysis, and process re-engineering for small/mid-size firms. Previously serving as Controller for Sikorsky Aircraft, he coached senior executives on business plan development, supply chain strategy and operating performance and provided quantitative analysis for decision making on multi-million dollar projects. Mr. Bragg also lectures on capital planning, serves as advisor to the UConn edgelab research facility and writes a regular column featured in the CT Post on-line newspaper. Jon M. Case Jon M. Case is a Principal at Founders Capital Management. Over the past 20 years, Mr. Case has founded, worked for, and served as an advisor to many closely-held firms in the medical research, information technology, retailing and professional services industries. Recently, he has served as Vice President of Finance and Business Development for a venture-backed biotechnology company. Mr. Case holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.Edmund S. Kindelan Edmund S. Kindelan, CPA and Member of the Firm at Kostin, Ruffkess & Co., LLC and has over 23 years of public accounting experience, including auditing, personal wealth management, and strategic business and tax planning. Mr. Kindelan’s expertise is in the areas of real estate, where he serves as Director of the firm's Real Estate Group, and family enterprises where he provides consulting on various issues ranging from governance, compensation structure, partnership and buy-sell agreements, valuations, financial planning, retirement planning, personnel issues, exit strategies, entity structure, and strategic planning.Alan H. Lovins Alan H. Lovins, PhD is a Psychologist with thirty years experience in counseling families, businesses, and individuals. He holds a bachelor's degree from Yale University and a doctorate in clinical psychology from Columbia University. Dr. Lovins has been an Associate Clinical Professor at Yale University and has served on several family boards. His work with family businesses involves succession planning, conflict resolution, communication strategies, inter-family issues, sibling dissension, extended family councils, off-site retreats, strategic planning, leadership transition, extended family dynamics, and retirement planning. Thomas G. Murphy Thomas G. Murphy is Executive Vice President at RSM McGladrey and oversees the firm’s Manufacturing and Wholesale Distribution practice. Prior to joining RSM McGladrey in 2001, Mr. Murphy served as a chief financial officer for manufacturing and distribution companies based in the Midwest, primarily in the pulp and paper, industrial and truck parts, and aerospace industries. Mr. Murphy's 25 years of manufacturing experience include new product development, establishing foreign operations, company restructurings, production rationalization, and implementation of new technologies. John S. Santa John S. Santa is Vice Chairman at Santa Holding Company, having begun full time employment with the family firm in 1964. His initial activities were in the area of retail marketing of fuel oil and equipment. He later became Corporate Treasurer in 1976 and President in 1988. He remains an active industry pioneer and family business supporter and now consults with family firms across the state on issues relating to leadership transitions, ownership transitions, conflict resolution, governance model structuring, initiating and disengaging family member employment, family councils, ethical behavior, and strategic planning. Michael L. Stern Michael L. Stern, PhD is a Business Psychologist with specialized training and experience in human behavior assessment and change. Clients include closely-held, family-owned, and publicly traded companies where he works with chief executives, management teams, family groups, and individual contributors in the areas of management assessment and development, pre-employment assessment, promotion evaluation, career path development, conflict resolution, and organizational effectiveness. He has been awarded a Certificate in Family Business Advising by the Family Firm Institute and is a member of PDFB, a national family business think tank.Craig L. Sylvester Craig L. Sylvester, JD is Partner at the law firm of Reid and Riege, P.C. His efforts on behalf of private and family owned businesses include, but are not limited to, structuring the business organization and its capitalization; coordinating the owners' business planning with their estate plans; preparing stockholder, partnership, employment-related contracts and other business contracts; representing the business on acquisitions of other companies and sales of subsidiaries or divisions; and counseling on employee and personnel issues. Craig is a member of the Attorneys for Family-Held Enterprises, a national association of attorneys representing family businesses.David C. Tate David C. Tate, PhD is a licensed clinical Psychologist and Assistant Clinical Professor at Yale University. In his consulting practice, he works with family businesses and other organizations around the issues of leadership development, conflict resolution, team building, succession planning, and organizational culture. In his clinical practice, he works with individuals, families, and groups around issues concerning health, relationships, and dealing with life transitions. Dr. Tate grew up within a family business. He received his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Virginia.Patrick A. Terrion Patrick A. Terrion is a Principal at Founders Capital Management and an instructor of Finance at the University of Connecticut School of Business. Mr. Terrion has experience at leadership positions with both small and large international businesses and was previously an officer at British Airways. |
