  About Us

An essential element of the University of Connecticut’s mission is
the development of knowledge that helps shape the global community. As a function of the School of Business Management Department, the Family Business Program supports the school’s commitment to basic and applied research through annual financial contributions. Together, the Family Business Program and leading faculty researchers strive to increase the potential contribution of students to their employers in an increasingly complex environment. Recent research includes studies in ambidexterity and performance in small to medium-sized enterprises and altruism in family firms.

Founded in 1941, the mission of the School of Business is to create and disseminate knowledge that significantly influences and enriches the students, the community of business scholars and the global World of business practice. To that end, the School of Business has established a strong reputation for high quality research and academic programs. Continuously accredited since 1958 by AACSB International, UConn’s School of Business is consistently ranked among the best business schools by BusinessWeek, The Wall Street Journal, and The Princeton Review - putting it in the top 5% of business schools worldwide.

The University of Connecticut
Family Business Program and CBIA proudly release the state’s inaugural Family Business Survey.  This survey,
the first to deal specifically with family firms in Connecticut, explores key issues facing family-business owners today and examines concerns they
have about the future.

The survey is part of a partnership between the UConn School of Business Family Business Program and CBIA – and is designed to expose family-owned companies to relevant trends related to business planning, development and operation.
