The full-time MBA program at the University of Connecticut School of Business is among the “Best MBA Programs for Value” in the country, according to Poets and Quants, a news website specializing in business-school evaluations.

In an article released May 9, the web site highlighted the program after reviewing research by several other studies that evaluate programs using different methodologies. The UConn program ranked No. 13 by Value Colleges and No. 21 by GraduatePrograms.com.

The high ranking comes on the heels of a U.S. News and World Report ranking which placed the UConn MBA program in the Top 50 in the nation.

“I’m delighted to see that our full-time MBA program is being recognized as offering our students an exceptionally valuable and impactful cohort-based MBA program,” said Meg Warren, director of the full-time MBA program.

“UConn has consistently been considered a top full-time MBA program for return- on-investment,” she said. “Value College’s ranking us as No. 13 continues to validate our reputation. Our in-state tuition is low and our out-of-state tuition is also accessible for many, allowing graduates to focus on their new career, not paying off a six-figure debt. We also award highly competitive graduate assistantships based on merit, which include a full tuition waiver, subsidized health benefits, and a generous stipend each semester.”

Value Colleges applies three metrics: the total cost of the program, the average salary of graduates (from PayScale’s 2014-2015 annual college salary report), and national rankings. Only schools that have program costs at or below $100,000 are considered.

The GraduatePrograms.com’s research is based on online surveys with over 10,000 current and former graduate business students, using a sliding scale to measure student satisfaction. In particular, the survey asked students to evaluate several categories, such as financial aid and education quality, to learn if their MBA program was worth the cost.

“It is just as gratifying to see GraduatePrograms.com’s qualitative ranking where we are ranked No. 21 with a score of 9.25 on a 10 point scale,” she said. “This is evidence that students and alumni find the academics, two-year experience, and strong job placement worthy of the cost of the full-time program.”
